Thanksgiving 2014 is just a few days away

Get the floors swept and everything dusted,  Thanksgiving is just a few days away.  Memories of Thanksgiving past are precious to me. As a child it was one of the only times of years I saw my cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Christmas was reserved for our immediate family so Thanksgiving meant a ‘big family event’.  Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving stories.  We love to hear from each of you!

The jokes of family fights at holidays are always going to be jokes with truth behind them  It stands to reason, when you get a large group of people together there won’t always be ‘peace in the valley”.  Yet its the stories of the newest baby in the family taking his first steps, of Grandma hugging everyone with nary a word because she’s older and can barely speak or of Uncle Irvin saying a prayer before the meal, a prayer we will never forget, a prayer of thanks and of love.

1. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states.

   As a nation we are still giving thanks, a commendable characteristic, “a thankful heart!”
